State of the Art Diagnostic Services in Hammond, LA
At IMCT, we pride ourselves on being able to provide the most diagnostic services you will need in-house under one roof. Rather than being sent to another facility for lab work, an x-ray, an ultrasound, or any of the other services listed below, you can walk right around the corner within our beautiful facility to take care of these tests.
X-Ray
IMCT offers the convenience of in-house X-RAY services. This greatly enhances the efficiency, accuracy, and speed with which you can obtain your diagnosis. We do our best to fit you in for the same-day appointment in the event of an acute injury. This allows us to send you more efficiently on the road to a faster recovery.
If you require more extensive imaging studies, such as MRIs or Bone Scans, this can be done at a facility outside of the clinic. We are linked by computer to the most reputable imaging centers so that studies can be sent directly to us for immediate review. If you have copies of your studies, then you should always bring them with you to your initial visit.
Bone Densitometry (DEXA)
A DEXA (Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry) bone density scan determines if you have osteoporosis or may be at risk of developing osteoporosis. Osteoporosis causes bones to be more fragile and can increase the risk of a fracture. The bone density scan is fast, accurate, pain-free, and has very low radiation. The scan takes approximately 3 – 5 minutes, and measurements are made over the lumbar spine and both hips. In addition, a series of questions will be asked to determine other risk factors for osteoporosis.
DEXA scan is the most widely used and most thoroughly studied bone density measurement technology.
Ultrasound (Regular & Vascular)
Ultrasound (regular) can be performed on any area of the body to diagnose illnesses of the thyroid, gallbladder, kidneys, and pancreas. Vascular ultrasound can be done of the carotid arteries to diagnose carotid artery disease to prevent strokes, aorta to diagnose aortic aneurysm, peripheral arteries to diagnose peripheral artery disease (PAD), or of veins to diagnose clots in the extremities.
Echocardiography
Echocardiography is an ultrasound of the heart to assess heart function and diagnose valvular heart disease. It captures a picture of the heart and blood flow of the heart. An echocardiogram is often ordered when there are indications of hypertension, chest pain, palpitations, shortness of breath, or an abnormal EKG. Your echocardiogram is read by a board-certified cardiologist.
